The Practice of Contemplative Medicine™

You are already whole.
Come remember…

Dr. Cass Naumann, DACM, LAc.
Doctor of Chinese & Integrative Medicine
Daoist Priestess | Wisdom Keeper

Dr. Cass Naumann is a Doctor of Chinese and Integrative Medicine, contemplative medicine scholar, and the creator of Contemplative Medicine™ — a clinical framework uniting evidence-based neurobiology, classical Daoist medicine, and the regulating power of presence.

Over two decades her practice has become something rare: a body of work that holds both the precision of clinical medicine and the depth of lineage-based transmission. Among the most credentialed and experienced practitioners of her kind in the country, she brings together a 23rd generation Daoist lineage, doctoral-level clinical training, and a lifetime of study across the world's great wisdom traditions.

Her private clientele includes leaders in business, public life, sport, and the arts — held with the discretion their trust requires.

There is a kind of medicine that works before a single needle is placed. This is that medicine.

The Medicine of Presence

“I am committed to the depths of my spiritual cultivation
and by the grace of the cosmos in concert with my
medicine practice, here to reflect your light back to you."

The Practice of Contemplative Medicine™

The body is a living temple — 身 shēn — where the finite touches the infinite and remembers the way home.

Contemplative Medicine is an integrative clinical model uniting evidence-based neurobiology, classical East Asian medicine, and the regulating power of presence into a single field of care. It is the art of restoring coherence between physiology, perception, and the subtle field of awareness — the meeting ground where ancient wisdom and modern science arrive at the same shore.

The body heals most completely when the nervous system feels safe, seen, and oriented toward meaning.

Rooted in both rigorous science and the living wisdom of Daoist and Zen contemplative traditions — this work supports patients navigating complex health conditions, trauma repair, spiritual emergence, and states of deep transformation. It restores the conditions for the body's innate intelligence to remember itself.

Dr. Cass's approach weaves together clinical practice, subtle perception, and embodied awareness — tending the living temple of the body so it can reveal what was always already whole.

This is the framework she practices, teaches at the doctoral level, and transmits through every offering in this work — from a single acupuncture session to an international retreat, from a tea ceremony to a seven-month journey through the M-Path.

Beauty. Stillness. Presence. The conditions for awakening.

The Four Gates

In the Daoist tradition, 門 mén — the gate — is understood as a passage into deeper cultivation, deeper presence, deeper return to source.

In Zen, the gateless gate opens only when you stop trying to open it.
In Tibetan tradition, every threshold is a bardo — a passage between states of being.

Each of the four gates is a different entry point into this work. All lead inward. All lead home.
The gates are open. This is your invitation to enter.

Smokey is an 8 year old mini Aussie rescued in 2020.
Born for this life with me, he bows at the altar and when invited, lays under the treatment room table during sessions.
He loves to greet guests, show you where to go, and to guard/sleep by the door while we work.
He welcomes pets and treats.
